Cookie Decorating and Starting Christmas with Santa

We've been doing a little tree trimming and fa-la-la-ing the past few days.

We watched Polar Express (for the first time this season, probably not the last) on Monday night which led to some cookie baking today.

When the kids got home from school we had everything we needed to add a little Christmas cheer to our gingerbread.

Here's the deal with cookie decorating with a 4 year-old and 2-and-a-half-year old....

Patience and Persistence.

They did really well--for about 5 minutes at a time. I started a new movie before we got going so they could take a break and watch the movie then come back to decorating. I wasn't sure how it would all go, but that really saved us. Instead of my trying to keep two kids focused on the task they could kind of come and go and I just kept on prepping more cookies. and Viola! Success!

Only two hit the floor, one got eaten, another sneezed on then trashed, one smashed for no real reason and two eaten. I am calling this a huge win.

Our holiday season is off to a great start--I should have known when we were able to achieve this at our Santa visit this year!

Hooray for the Holidays!
